News, Wonder Woman has grossed over $368 million in North America, surpassing the $363 million made by Deadpool. Despite this, Ryan Reynolds, who played the lead in Deadpool at age 40, was gracious in his response. He shared an Instagram photo of Deadpool wearing a pendant of Wonder Woman and congratulated the film on its success.

Congrats #WonderWoman #BoxOfficeBoss.โ Even though Deadpool earned $783 globally while Wonder Woman made $746, E! News suggested that Wonder Woman could soon catch up. Wonder Woman has achieved the highest domestic gross among all DC Extended Universe films and is the second-best globally – only being trumped by Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
According to E! News, Wonder Woman has surpassed Deadpool’s North American earnings of $363 million with a gross of over $368 million. However, Time reported that Deadpool still holds the record for the highest global theatrical gross for an R-rated movie during its release last year. Despite Tim Miller not returning as director for the sequel, David Leitch will be taking on the role and the film is set for release in June 2018. The original screenplay writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, will remain involved in the upcoming Deadpool 2.

The film also features Connie Nielson as Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta of Themyscira, and Robin Wright as General Antiope, Hippolyta’s sister and Diana’s mentor.
Last year, Deadpool set a new record for R-rated movies by earning the highest global theatrical gross, as reported by Time.
